Last Saturday 22nd February, at Kelvingrove, John Mackay, the STV newscaster, journalist and author, gave 50 Friends and their guests a special presentation, question and answer session and book-signing event based on his latest book, “Scotland Today and Yesterday – Witness to a changing nation”.
John MacKay is one of Scotland’s best known broadcasters. His career as a reporter, anchor and presenter has spanned from the Thatcher Years to the Independence Referendum and beyond. MacKay has been witness to the major stories in the country’s recent past.
John spoke of the tragedies of Lockerbie and Dunblane; the profound changes in the Scottish political landscape over the last few decades; his most memorable interviews and some of his heroes. Even his tie collection got a mention!
Friends were able, after the presentation, to purchase his book at a discounted price and have a chat with John while he signed their copy of his book.
Many thanks to John for giving us such an informative and enjoyable time. We would also like to thank all the staff in the shop, catering and the gallery assistants who worked hard to ensure we had a successful event.
