We were delighted that Carolyn Foran, the Education Officer at Kelvingrove, offered a small group of Friends the opportunity to experience a practical art class similar to the ones offered to the young people entering the Annual Art Competition. Our group of 15 members thoroughly enjoyed the warming up drawing exercises before finding an object to draw in one of the many galleries at Kelvingrove. Everyone commented on how time flies when you are concentrating on looking and recording what you see! After having a look at each other’s work, everyone went to the restaurant for a very welcome cup of tea or coffee accompanied by delicious cakes and home-made shortbread. We now all have a much better understanding of the skill, talent, concentration and hard work that the young artists need to create their prizewinning entries for the Annual Art Competition after undertaking this class. Many thanks to Carolyn Foran and the team in the Restaurant for organising such an enjoyable afternoon for us!
