Caroline, our Chairperson and Julie, Gail and Barbara from the committee, attended the 2023 Glasgow Museums Annual Art Competition Prizegiving Ceremony at Kelvingrove Art Gallery last Thursday, 28th September. The Prizegiving Ceremony, catering and all the prizes were sponsered by a grant given by the Friends of Glasgow Museums. When we arrived the atmosphere was electric as all the very excited prizewinners and their families and friends took their seats in a very busy central hall of Kelvingrove. After the main prizes were given out, Caroline Robertson, our Chair, gave a short speach describing FoGM’s long standing connection with the Art Competition before handing out three special prizes: two TJ Honeyman Awards for the most outstanding Junior and Senior artists and one Anne McLean Award for the Best School entry. It was heartening to see so many talented young people and their beautifully executed artistic work. The exhibition of the young people’s wonderful work is on display at Kelvingrove until 4th November. An exhibition not to be missed!
