100 Friends and their guests celebrated Glasgow 850th Anniversary with a Gala Lunch in Kelvingrove’s Lower Ground Floor Cafe this week. After a glass of fizz and Welcome Speech from Caroline Robertson, FoGM’s Chair, we sat down at beautifully decorated tables where we found, at each place setting, a complimentary gift of a ceramic coaster marking Glasgow 850 designed by the team at Make It Glasgow. Following our delicious 3-course lunch served with red or white wine and, while we had our tea and coffee, Caroline conducted a special mini raffle for one of the official Glasgow 850 plates commissioned by Glasgow City Council. It was won by a very surprised Elizabeth Whyte who will be putting it on display in her home during this important year in Glasgow’s history! After lunch, Friends and their guests were able to take advantage of a special discount in the shop for a little bit of retail therapy. Everyone said they thoroughly enjoyed the event and were looking forward to being back at Kelvingrove for the Christmas Lunch at the begining of December! Many thanks go to Bryan, Craig, Derek and all the fantastic team in the cafe, for all their hard work, enthusiasm, skill and effort to make our Glasgow 850 Lunch such a success.
