Last Thursday, a group of Friends thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the history of the Annual Art Competition for Young People from Carolyn Foran, Museum Education Officer, followed by a tour of this year’s prizewinners’ work on display in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. We were fascinated and very pleased to see such high quality and diverse art work in the exhibition from so many talented school pupils, continuing the long tradition of this competition that began in 1904! The Friends of Glasgow Museums, as an organisation, has been delighted to have sponsored the medals, special prizes and the Prizegiving Event for many years and we look forward to continuing to be involved, for many years, with this very important and prestigious Competition for Young Artists in Glasgow.
