20 Friends thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the National Trust for Scotland’s Mackintosh Tearooms in Sauchiehall Street this week. We were met by Paula, our tour guide who introduced us to the history behind the Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed Tearooms that he created for the Glasgow Tearoom Entrepreneur, Miss Catherine Cranston. We marvelled at all the stunning details of each part of the different floors of the tearooms, including the beautiful Salon de Luxe designed for ladies use only and the Billiards Room, designed for the business men from all the different city offices that were close by. After our tour, we sat in the ground floor tearoom for tea, delicious chocolate cake and a well earned rest before we took part in a stencilling activity using designs created by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his wife, Margaret Macdonald. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our visit and were pleased with all the different activities. We would like to thank all the staff at the Mackintosh Tearooms for their very warm welcome and for looking after us so well.
