30 Friends and their guests visited the Hunterian Art Gallery for a special tour of their latest exhibition “Views of Glasgow: A Window into Communities”. Our wonderful Committee member and Friend, Ailsa Turner very kindly stood in at short notice to give a wonderful insight into the background of the exhibition where paintings of Glasgow where on display alongside objects chosen by four members from the Woodlands community. These paintings and objects explored how communities in the city were formed, how they could be threatened by new developments and how they were renewed to meet the needs of future generations. In this thought-provoking exhibition, we enjoyed viewing the wonderful artworks on display, including two Joan Eardley paintings and seeing the 15-minute video of some of areas of Glasgow before and after regeneration. This is a fascinating exhibition about Glasgow and well worth visiting again to take more time viewing all the exhibits.
