This talk explores the remarkable contribution made by the Glasgow based artist John Knox (1778-1845) to Scottish ninetenth century painting including a discussion of his colourful depiction of Glasgow Fair.

Margaret Anderson will give the second part of her highly informative lecture series titled “The Clearances Revisited”. This follow-on lecture from her first one will be a further exploration of the complex series of situations and events that led to the Highland Clearances.

Join us for a practical Art session based on FCB Cadell’s painting, “The Orange Blind”, which is on display in Kelvingrove Art Gallery. We will explore how we can create interiors inspired by the artworks using spaces we know. We are pleased to offer Friends the chance to visit the Hunterian Art Gallery at the University of Glasgow for guided tours of the exhibitions: Whistler: Art and Legacy and Celebrating Joan Eardley, plus a look at the new Mackintosh House Introduction Gallery. These visits will be guided by the Visitor Experience Assistants and Museum Student Educators.
