A group of Friends enjoyed having a very informative guided tour of the National Trust for Scotland?s Holmwood House in the South side of Glasgow. We were guided through the beautiful house designed by architect Alexander ?Greek? Thomson for the businessman, James Couper. The house was built at a cost of 3,600 in the 1850?s with the design inspired by themes from the classical world but meeting the needs of both business visitors and family members alike. We were impressed by the painstaking restoration of the building and the original room decoration that has been completed in recent years. A thoroughly enjoyable visit, with many members saying that they will return again soon to spend more time exploring the house and visiting the grounds. Many thanks to all the staff involved in making our visit to Holmwood House such a great success.
